Jacqueline “Jackie” Reich was named Vernon’s Senior of the Year before nearly 150 township senior citizens and guests at a luncheon at Minerals Resort & Spa.

In addition to a letter of commendation from the county’s state legislators, there also was a plaque that read, “Presented to Jacqueline Reich ‘Outstanding Senior of the Year.’ For your continued commitment to volunteerism in Vernon Township. May 18, 2014.” The nominating petitions for the annual honor cited several selfless acts and a commitment to volunteerism in the township. Reich has served as a member of the Vernon Township Senior Board for 12 years. She has held several positions on the board including president. Her term expired at the end of 2013.

Reich has been honored as being instrumental in providing activities for the senior citizens of the township. Reich has been a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales church for 40 years and she is the president of the church’s XYZ club. For the last 16 years, she has also served as a greeter at the church. She also is a 15-year member of the Leisure Club.
