Companion Caregivers
Have you considered employing a companion for your loved one but you're not sure if its appropriate? From The Heart Elder Care is here to help with that decision.
If you're spending at least a couple of hours 2 or 3 days a week to care for an elderly loved one then employing an hourly-based companion maybe your best option. Companions work in a strictly "hands-off" environment - no "hands-on" personal care is provided. (All we require is a minimum of 4 consecutive hours, twice a week.)
If your loved one requires help with any of the following on a daily basis we can help:
- Reminding to take medications
- Meal preparation and clean up
- Light Housekeeping
- Laundry
- Changing linens
- Accompanying to medical or other appointments
Definition of Companion Care Services
A caregiver/companion is a person employed to accompany and assist with another in the capacity of a "helpful friend". A companion is trained to assist with “hands off” care (described above).
